Today I had a day off and I went to birding with Itai in southern Arava deserts. We had an amazing day with more than 100 Thick-billed Larks, 7 Temminck's Horned Larks, 7 Bar-tailed Larks, 3 Desert Warblers and some more nice stuff including 6 species of Wheatears. Thick-bills and Temminck's were lifers for me, what a beautiful birds. It was so unbelievable to see large flocks of Thick-bills in different places.
Guys had a slow ringing day in the station but the first Hoopoe and Eastern Bonelli's Warbler for the season were caught. Raptor migration was also good after a few days quiet period. They counted 345 Steppe Eagles and already some tens of Steppe Buzzards among them.
