We saw almost all the birds and every one of them was a 2nd year bird. So we can really see it now that the breeding was very successful last year. Those young males are more difficult to catch than adult males so again today we tried nearly 10 birds and managed to catch only one. But I'm happy because that bird made the ringing number of this year already better than last year. Now I have ringed 10 males this summer while last summer I ringed 9 males. Other interesting observations were 2 nests of Three-toed Woodpecker.

The breast and head pattern. This one has very strong

The inside of the upper mandible. This is the first bird I found
that light and even pinkish colour inside the upper mandible.
In some 2nd cy birds this colour can really still be very
juvenile-like.
