Goldcrest 49205U, Kokkola-Kaliningrad!

While I was in Eilat, I received a nice ring recovery information about the Goldcrest that I ringed in Tankar Bird Observatory (Kokkola, Finland) last October. The exact ringing date was 4th October and only seven days later this bird was recaptured in Rybachiy ringing station in Kaliningrad, Russia!

It's a long journey for such a small bird and it made this journey also quite fast. Rybachyi ringing station lies 995 kilometres south from Tankar. So almost 1000 kilometres in seven days!

As said in the letter, have to mention that they also added a new Russian ring for this bird. I wonder why?

Goldcrest. This photo is also taken in Tankar but it's not
the bird mentioned here.
