Finally I had time to travel up north and go for catching Red-flanked Bluetails. The weather was not good as it was windy like hell almost all the weekend, but birds were singing eagerly early morning hours so only problem was finding them. Normally you can hear Bluetail singing from at least 400-500 metres but especially on Sunday morning the maximum distance of hearing the song was only 100 metres. During these two mornings I went to only two places and had around 25 Bluetails. I ringed 12 males, of which 8 in Saturday! Saturday morning me and Teppo Helo were really enjoying fully of these mystic old-growth forest birds. Other nice birds seen during weekend were 6 Greenish Warblers, 8 Three-toed Woodpeckers and this sweet Little Bunting.
