Long-eared Owl H 143745

Last week I received a ring recovery of a Long-eared Owl that I have ringed 25th September 2009 in Hanko Bird Observatory. Swedish ringers have retrapped the same bird in Falsterbo 26th October 2011. It's my first recovery of any owl I have ringed.

And here's the bird being ringed back to 2009.


Swedish ringers aged this bird as a 1cy but as you can
see from the secondaries this was an adult bird already
2009. There are two generations of adult type
secondaries which means that it was older than 2nd cy
in Sep 2009.
