Jurmo B.O Nov2011
Last week I visited Jurmo Bird Observatory island for 4 days. My target was to try to colour ring Puprle Sandpipers which are wintering (and also passing by) there in good numbers. It's the only regular site in Finland you can see them in tens or sometimes even a couple of hundreds. During my stay the best day total was 330 birds which is one of the biggest numbers recorded in one place in Finland. But those birds are not easy to catch as they are moving all the time between tens of tiny islands..
