I visited England shortly at the end January. The main purpose was to visit the bird skin collection at the Natural History Museum in Tring. I was interested to check Red-flanked Bluetail skins and find out if there are any differences between age classes in female-plumaged birds in autumn. I found something interesting but I need to analyse all the photos properly before publishing anything. Maybe I also need to go back there again and check the skins again more precisely.
Some autumn adult males. See how variable the back colour can be.
