Owls!

Owls! If there's nothing else to see here during January-February, at least  this winter looks like a good one for owls. Last weekend I visited Kainuu quickly. On my way there i saw 2 Hawk Owls and a Pygmy Owl, just by the road while driving.

Great Grey Owls have been moving now and there are many observations of them also in very southern parts of Finland. But up north it seems that there has been a big movement of Great Grey Owls since the end of December. It's unbelievable, but it's now possible to see even 3-5 Great Grey Owls together in very small areas that have a good population of voles. Hope it stays like that and these guys breed successfully.
