I made a tradional trip to Tankar island in the first week of October. Weather was too windy almost every day so it was a bit frustrating trying to do ringing. During the week I ringed only 478 birds, mostly Redpolls and Long-tailed Tits. We saw no rarities and the best observations were Barred Warbler, many Purple Sandpipers and a nice adult White-billed Diver in breeding plumage.

1kv kirjokerttu (Sylvia nisoria).

Lehtokurppa (Scolopax rusticola) +1kv (?).

Strange primary coverts of that bird. Most likely adult type?

Redpoll (right) and Arctic Redpoll (left).

Notice the differences in greater coverts, tertials and rectrices.

Cabaret -tyyppinen urpiainen.
